We love the holidays for the same reasons everyone does. One of the nice things about the wintry weather is Mulled Wine - it warms you inside and out and gets you into the spirit of the season. Here's our recipe, just in time for the holidays.

Mulled Wine

1 bottle of dry red wine (we use a Bordeaux)

½ bottle of dry white wine (we use a Sauvignon Blanc)

Juice from ½ orange

Zest from the ½ orange

Peeled, sliced fresh ginger - about a 1" (3 cm) finger-sized piece

2 cinnamon sticks

¼ teaspoon of ground cloves

2 tablespoons or to taste of agave nectar

Remove zest from the orange and set aside.

Juice the orange into a saucepan.

Add the wine, zest, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and 2 tablespoons of agave nectar; stir to mix.

Heat on medium low heat until hot - not boiling. Reduce the heat to low for an hour or more to allow the favors to release and blend. Add agave nectar until desired level of sweetness is reached.

Serve hot and enjoy!

We love margaritas.

We don't love the syrupy drink you're usually served in a bar, so we've come up with our own, very fresh, very delicious skinny margarita recipe.

In the spirit of Pelli, we want to share it with you.

In a cocktail shaker add:

Juice from 1/2 Orange

Juice from 1/2 Lemon

Juice from 1/2 Lime

2 Tablespoons of agave syrup

1 jigger (2 oz or 50ml) Cointreau

2 jiggers (4 oz or 100 ml) gold tequila

Ice

Gently shake the mix and pour into an 8 oz (200 ml) cocktail glass and serve with a smile. Make 2 servings.

Note: Salted glass rim is optional. This drink, while sweet, is way less sweet than the usual margarita-from-a-mix cocktail and we've found the salt unnecessary.

Cheers!
